Portrait Soprano Andreja Gerzina

Biography

Andreja Geržina was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia and studied at Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, where she graduated in 2005. She studied vocal performance under Ingrid Janser-Mayr and song and oratory under Wolfgang Holzmair. She graduated in master classes under Marjana Lipovšek, Alfred Burgstaller, Robert Holl and Vlatka Oršanič.

Already at the beginning of her studies in 2000/01 gathered the soprano experience on stage at the Salzburg festival Salzburger Festspiele as a participant in the performance Jedermann (Everyman) where she played the role of a party guest. Since 2004 she has given concerts in Salzburg, Slovenia and Italy with diverse sacred pieces of music such as G. F. Händel’s Der Messias (Messiah) singing soprano, J. Haydn’s Stabat matera, G. B. Pergolesi’s Stabat mater, W. A. Mozart’s Requiem (alto), Davide Penitente KV 468, Krönungsmesse, c-minor Messe and F. X. Gruber’s Deutsche Messe in D-major GWV 45.

In 2005 sang Andreja Geržina at Lent Festival in Slovenia the role of Eileen in L. Bernsteins Wonderful Town, with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra under conductor Mate Bekavac. In 2008 she performed together with Mate Bekavac and Nina Prešiček in the Slovenian Philharmonic Hall in Ljubljana where she sang J. Brahms’ Zwei Gesänge, op. 91.

In 2009 she sang at a subscription concert in the Slovenian Philharmonic Hall Franz Schubert’s Rosamunde, Fürstin von Zypern, with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mate Bekavac. In the summertime of 2011 and 2012 she performed song recitals in Bled and in 2013 in Opatija, Croatia ("Kaisernacht").
